
After completing a week's worth of workouts here at Excel Body Fitness, you may experience some muscle soreness and tension in certain areas of your body. This response is completely normal and is the result of micro-tears in your muscles which in turn results in growth once these tears are healed. Although muscle soreness is normal, it can be uncomfortable and not ideal for your day to day activities. We are here to help with a few tips and tricks on how to alleviate the symptoms of muscle soreness and tension: Antioxidant Supplements: Antioxidants such as Turmeric, Prunes, Walnuts, and Green Tea are amazing for reducing inflammation which in turn alleviates some pain from muscle soreness and speeds up recovery. Epsom Salts: Epsom Salts are widely used for muscle recovery and they are an inexpensive & easy way to alleviate tension. Run some hot water, throw in about ½ cup of epsom salts and relax! Massage Therapy: Here at Excel Body Fitness in Cary/Morrisville, we have an amazing Massage Therapist who is an expert in her practice and will be sure to alleviate any tension or soreness from your body after a Massage Therapy session. Not only are massages known to reduce muscle soreness and tightness, but they are extremely relaxing as well! Cool down & Stretch: Even if you are in a pinch for the time after your workout, make sure you set aside at least five minutes to stretch or foam roll afterward. You can also sign-up for a Yoga class at least once a week here at Excel Body Fitness in Cary/Morrisville, to help your recovery. Stretching out your muscles before muscle soreness occurs can help speed up muscle recovery and rejuvenation. Implementing one or two of these quick tricks into your daily routine can drastically improve your muscle soreness and tension and call for a faster recovery.
