Gym Tips for Beginners

Being a beginner in the gym can feel intimidating, but here at Excel Body Fitness, we can assure you that we are a no-judgement zone! Our Cary Morrisville Gym facility offers an open-gym option, group fitness classes, and one on one personal training that are sure to help you get back into the swing of things. 

Here are some tips on getting back into the gym as a beginner and how to get started:

 

Finding a Gym Buddy:

Whether you meet them at our facility or you've known them for a while, having a partner in crime when it comes to exercise is a great way to motivate each other to stay on track and keep showing up! You can hold each other accountable, motivate each other to finish out your daily workout, and even cook healthy meals together.

 

Let Our Facility Know:

We can assure you that we will ensure our group fitness instructors or personal trainers are aware of your strengths and weaknesses, therefore they can cater the workout to your abilities. Our front desk staff and management are available during business hours to assist you with any machines in the Bronze area as well. 

 

Start out small: 

If you haven't been to a gym in a while, start out slow and slowly add on intensity to your workouts. To ease any anxiety, find the hours where our facility is least-crowded, therefore you can explore the various machines and equipment we have available for use. 

 

Know that no one is judging you:

We have all started somewhere, even the fittest person in the gym was once a beginner! Everyone working out is focused on their own workout and has their own goals in mind. It’s perfectly okay to go down in weight or lessen your reps without being worried. You’re here and that’s the first and hardest step!
