Beginners and experts in the world of fitness all make mistakes throughout their journey that can easily be avoided. Today we are here to point out some of these common mistakes and tell you just how to avoid making them: Incorrect Form: One of the most common mistakes in the fitness world has to be improper form. You may do a specific movement with improper form for months/years without even realizing it! Now, this is not a mistake to ignore, as it can lead to injury. One of the best ways to ensure you have proper form is to start in-person group fitness classes or consulting with a certified personal trainer. Look for an instructor who pays attention to specially new people in the class and corrects their form. Our instructors here at Excel Body Fitness in Cary/Morrisville will be watching you every step of the way. For those who are just starting their fitness journey, Personal Training would be a great option as our trainers will assess your form and movements to ensure you are performing properly and effectively. Only Focusing on Fitness: A very common misconception in the fitness industry is that once you get your sweat in for the day, your work is done and you can eat whatever you'd like. Although we wish it was this way, it just isn't the case. It is important to consider that reaching your goals is 25% fitness and 75% diet. Therefore, most of your work should be done in the kitchen! Relying on the Scale: One of the most common reasons people get discouraged in their fitness journey is due to the number on the scale. The difference between one pound of muscle and one pound of fat is that muscle is more dense than body fat and you can make progress without a significant change on the scale. A more effective way to track your progress is to take physique measurements and photos throughout your journey. It is recommended that you take these photos/measurements every 2 weeks as progress does not happen overnight! We all make mistakes, but, here at Excel Body Fitness, we are here to help you avoid them and achieve your goals!
